Contemporary Month: It’s June! / the Summer Series Challenge Begins!

It isn’t too late to sign up –> HERE

The start of JUNE means TWO things on this blog

1. Contemporary Month Continues into Month #2!
2. Summer Series Challenge kicks off!

As I mentioned earlier on the blog, these two events are overlapping for this month,
so the series books that I choose to read for this month will be contemporary books
so they will fit with my Contemporary Month Event theme!

YAY!!!

That being said…I have a super-difficult time committing to a list
Every time. Always.
I do think, however, that I can at least try to commit to these series books:

The Summer Series by Jenny Han

The Clayton Falls Series by Alyssa Rose Ivy

These two series would fit both the #serieschallenge requirements/rules
AND be perfect for my Contemporary Month Event.

**I think it’s really important to repeat that I’m really awful at committing to
lists so that means that I may add things to this list or alter it in small ways.
ALSO: I’m not even going to attempt to make a goal for June and July at this point!

Do any of you have any series goals?
Whether or not you are participating in the #serieschallenge,
tell me what they are!

AND it isn’t too late to sign up to be a part of this super laid-back,
chill reading challenge.
Click HERE to sign up and/or see the guidelines/rules!
There will be some fun prizes which we will discuss soon!

After taking a few days off and then attenting
Book Expo America in New York City
(my first time in NYC and at BEA!!)
it’s now time to get back into the Contemporary Month Event full-swing!!

I’m really excited about this because I missed it a ton while I was off from blogging.

Kicking it off tomorrow:

When You Were Here
by Daisy Whitney

I LOVE THIS ONE.
Watch for my thoughts tomorrow!!

ALSO:

Watch for more cool Contemporary stuff this week,
including some giveaways and things. June is kind of big.

What series are you working on
or hoping to finish soon?

Have you signed up for the challenge?
It’s super low-stress!

Have you read any good contemporaries lately?

  1. Ems

I'm doing the Summer Series challenge! I'm just going to be smart about it this time, and NOT make a list. Every time I make a list, I deviate from it so far that I may as well have not made a list at all. Plus, I won't have list-guilt. This is going to be a great summer!

    • Lists, for me, are pretty much insurance that I WON'T stick to them. I'm such a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants reader anyway. I'm actually really interested in seeing what everyone else picks, but I'm not stressed about knowing what everyone else will pick right away – if that makes any sense at all. 🙂

So glad you're doing the challenge too, Ems!

  2. I read The Summer I Turned Pretty but never made it any farther. I'll have to quiz you after you finish so I can find out what happens with Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah:)

I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on When You were Here! I know Jen loved it:)

  3. I'm so glad you loved When You Were Here, Asheley! I did, too…naturally haha Also, I really enjoyed the Summer series. I thought I'd hate it, and it was cliche at times (I'll admit), but I really liked it. I love Jenny Han's writing.

    • The only Jenny Han that I've read is Burn For Burn, and I liked that one. I'm excited to read the Summer Series and while I've heard mixed reviews, I think I'll be okay with them. I'm expecting a light series, so we'll see. And oh goodness, the Daisy Whitney – just so fabulous. So very good!

  4. I'm staying far away from that summer series. But I'm eager to hear your thoughts as you work your way through it. Brother love is a triangle theme I've started to seriously avoid. I don't know anything about that Clayton Falls series, but I'm gonna look it up. You are telling me about so many good books/series these days. And I am thankful for your friendship. I can't believe we just 'met' last week.

    • Aww, I don't mind the brother love so much if it's well-written. Happens in real life! Hahaha!

You know, the Clayton Falls series is written by the same author that wrote The Hazards of Skinny Dipping, which I recently reviewed here on the blog and really enjoyed. I'm actually really excited to get into it.

I loved meeting – it felt like we'd known each other for years. More book events in the months and years to come, I say!

    • I've fallen fast and hard with contemporary, which I NEVER thought would happen! I can't get enough. A year ago I'd have laughed at anyone that suggested I'd ever feel this way. And of course, I love summer. Hoping I click with the Summer Series!

  5. I seriously need to catch up and do my post with the list of the series I want to tackle this summer! I have a few ideas, but I need to get them down 😉
