I don’t often do Blog Hops, you guys, but I loved the idea of this one! Here is a chance for me to share something about myself by giving away a book. This is a marvelous idea! But which books do I want to give away and how will they represent me?

Hmmmmmm? Well I’m choosing to give away a book from a series that I need to either START or FINISH.

Get to know me
  1. I pick my books based on my mood. Or whatever pretty cover calls out to me when I’m ready to read. Or whatever has just been recommended to me. I could pick my next book because of…WHO KNOWS WHAT! I NEVER plan my reading list ahead of time.
  2. I trade bookmarks every time I finish a book. I have a pretty, shiny box that I keep most of them in. Some are crafted, some are homemade, and some are book swag. I LOVE THEM ALL.
  3. I’m a very eclectic reader and a very emotional reader, which means that my friends often get very animated messages from me when something big happens in a book.
  4. I absolutely cannot read books that are super-duper hyped-up until all of the fuss dies down. It kills the excitement for me! I’ve tried and been BURNED.
  5. I read several books at the same time. I just do. I usually have an audiobook or two going as well as something on my Kindle and maybe one or two print copies. THIS IS WHO I AM.
I could go on listing reading quirks, but the point is that I love reading and I love this community. I love the idea of getting to know other readers and bloggers better! NOW! Onto the giveaway!

So, basically, the winner gets to
choose from the following books:

Even though these are all YA books, I read at least a little bit of pretty much everything!

    • I usually take more than one book with me when I places too in case I need to decide on a new one! I just can't plan ahead, I CANNOT! I love it! Thanks for sharing! (:

  1. i can read only one book at a time ( and if i have or plan to review it i must finiosh that too before starting a new one) and i also tend to let my mood decide which book i read next

    • There are times when I wish I could be more structured and read one book at a time or write a review before starting a new book, but if I'm honest, I'm not that organized. That's so awesome that you can do that! Thanks so much for stopping by (:

    • YES – "calls out to me" is a perfect way to describe it! I stare at my shelves or my Kindle for ages sometimes until the perfect one grabs my attention! Thanks for sharing!

    • OH YES, the hype is the worst thing for me. It almost guarantees that I will not like the book, which makes me so sad! I always end up waiting a long time to read or reading VERY early. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for hosting this hop! (:

  2. I didn't realise that I'm also a mood reader until recently. Funny fact about this book bookworm? I don't use bookmarks, I just note that page number and (attempt) to come back to it later. I have terrible memory, but I tend to remember where I'm up to. Funny, huh? I'd love to read Unspoken or start The Raven Cycle. Always lovely getting to know you 🙂

    • I LOVE what you say about bookmarks! That's so awesome! I would never ever remember the page number, NEVER!! I'm so happy to see you back in the book world lately, Rebecca (:
      Thanks for stopping by!

    • I can listen to music ONLY if it is instrumental, like All The Bright Lights or Explosions In The Sky-even then, I only put it on to drown out other noise. Otherwise, I'm totally the same! The words make it hard for me to concentrate on what I'm reading! This is a great one. Thanks for sharing! (:

    • Aahhh, folding the pages is one of those really tough things. I very rarely do it…but I DID have to do it just last week when I was stuck without a bookmark! It broke my heart but I did it anyway. Thank for sharing and entering the giveaway! (:

  3. I always am reading more than one book at a time. When my job allowed me to listen to audio books, I would always be reading at least one and also listening to one. I almost always have a book on my phone, too.

    • Okay, I love this! This is awesome. I can't say that I cover my books in plastic HOWEVER I do put my Kindle inside of a Ziploc bag when I go to the beach to keep sand from getting inside of it and to keep it from getting wet. Similar, but not the same!
Thanks so much for sharing this! I love it.

    • Drinking chocolate when reading is something that I can certainly support! LOVE THAT! I like to drink coffee when I read, especially early morning reading. (: Thanks for stopping by!

    • Sometimes I wish I was a little better about this because I OFTEN push through even when I'm not enjoying a book very much. Sometimes it pays off-sometimes not. Thanks for sharing this and stopping by!

    • Oooh, this is a good one! I used to be the same way. I'm a little better now but I get really tired of the same genre or category very easily and have to switch up often or I'll get burned out. Thanks for stopping by! (:

    • Random items as bookmarks-I love that! I once saw a girl that was using a pack of sugar from a restaurant as a bookmark and that really made me laugh! Thanks for stopping by, Molly!

    • Okay, both of these just made me chuckle a bit. Haha! Books do have a great smell! I just moved recently and when I had to unpack my books, I got SO STRESSED about which books would go where on my shelves. Maybe I should rearrange them every now and then for fun, so it wouldn't be such a BIG DEAL where I put them? This is a great idea, actually! Thank you! (:

  4. I hoard popular titles for a rainy day that i know i will love & i carry my book or ipad with me everywhere cept the potty but i guess alot of people do that! nice to meet you!
    ~ Britt

    • A lot of people do that, yep! They do at my house – I have a large family (is that too much information? sorry!) I too hoard one or two titles from my favorite authors so I'll have JUST ONE MORE left that I haven't read. I didn't realize anyone else did this! Love it! Thanks for sharing that!

  5. Just like you, I read several books at one time! I'm always dying to know what's going on in all the books so its hard for me to totally give my attention to just one!

  6. I love reading so much that once I start reading a good book I don't stop, so more than once my mum has actually had to ask me to stop reading because I just walk around the house doing stuff with a book or my kindle in my hands.
    Thank you for the giveaway!

    • You're welcome! That's awesome that you love reading that much and I've walked back and forth in my house with my Kindle before – sometimes the book is just THAT GOOD! Thanks for stopping by and entering, Carla!

  7. I kind of decide which book I'm reading next based on my mood… but I always take so much time deciding! I just stand in front of my shelves trying to decide which one to read next!

Thank you for doing this giveaway! 😉

    • Sometimes it takes me FOREVER too! And then sometimes after I finally decide, it still isn't what I want and I end up changing my mind (:
Thanks so much for stopping by and entering the giveaway!

    • Oh my gosh! I imagine that would spoil! However I recently did that myself because otherwise I would've had to DNF and I really didn't want to. It was the first time I'd done that and I can see how some people need to or want to do that. Thanks so much for stopping by! (:

  8. If I'm reading a romance novel or at least a book with romance in it, I NEED to know who the protagonist is ending up with or leaning towards before I start the book because I need to psych my mind to rooting for them since I get really upset if my ship doesn't happen. Like so upset, I cry.

    • This is funny! I have a couple of friends that don't read love triangles at all whenever possible. But I think this is neat because it prevents HEARTACHE. I love it! Great idea (:
Thanks so much for stopping by!

  9. This is quite embarrassing to say but I like the read the parts of the main female characters in the book like a dialogue and speak as if I'm the character in the story. So i'm kind of acting it out, but not really! haha
Thank you for this amazing giveaway! 🙂

    • I hear you! I went through a phase of prefering paper books – then ebooks – then paper books – now I think I don't really mind which, but I don't like reading the huge heavy books right now because I'm a little bit lazy and I would rather just NOT when I can hold my super-lightweight Kindle. And I get you on the book-sniffing! Thanks for stopping by! (:

  10. Isa

I have this terrible habit of starting too many books at the same time and so I end up neglecting certain books for others I enjoy more. Another habit I have is if I'm really into a character or couple I tend to skip ahead to scenes with them. This happened with Blay and Qhuinn from the BDB series, Lucian and Phaedra from Lumatere Chronicles and Jaime and Brienne from A Song of Ice and Fire series. Thank you for the giveaway, enjoy your day. 🙂

    • Yes to the having several books going at once – that is me ALWAYS!! I totally feel ya there. I have favorite characters too, but instead of skipping ahead, I think that sometimes I almost ignore the other characters' scenes until I come back around to my favorites again. Then sometimes on rereads I pick up on things I missed the first time around.

I love the BDB series – I'm such a huge fan, HUGE HUGE. Theses other two series are HIGH on my to-read list! I almost started Game of Thrones series a couple of weeks ago but at the last minute, I backed out!
Thanks so much for entering the giveaway and sharing this! (:

  11. I'm definitely a mood reader too – it's one of the reasons I've stopped doing ARC's. I just can't be trusted to get to the book in a timely manner at all! Sadly it means that I have a worse problem with hype as bloggers get excited by the ARC's. I'm the same as you – I just have a really hard time getting into a hyped up a book without judging it too critically. The expectations just go so high! And man…I have to really try and screen what books I read at work/public transit when I used to have it because when you get a bad surprise (or actually a good one, particularly a funny one) people tend to think you are a crazy person hahaha.

I used to only read one book at a time – I never understood how people could possibly read more than one book at a time! But somehow blogging has changed all that and I can be between anywhere from two books all the way to 5 or 6 haha. (Which is madness. Utter madness.)

    • YES TO YOUR ENTIRE COMMENT. Especially this –> "Sadly it means that I have a worse problem with hype as bloggers get excited by the ARC's. I'm the same as you – I just have a really hard time getting into a hyped up a book without judging it too critically." Hype is SO SO hard for me. Ugh, I just don't know any way around it except to read extremely early or extremely late.

Thank you so much for sharing this! At least I'm not alone with the hype machine!

  12. I'm usually attracted to one book's popularity worldwidely. Then , the cover!!! And I end up starting 4 books at the same time. I try to avoid DNF-ing as much as I can, unless the book is really bad. But books are rarely bad!!! 🙂

  13. I usually have at LEAST two different books going at all times. One physical copy for when I am home, and one ebook for everywhere else. I also have a really bad habit of peeking ahead in a book to see what is going to happen later in the book. I have always done this, and think I always will! Thank you so much for the giveaway, and giving us the chance to get to know you!

  14. I have lots and lots of print books that are standing on my shelves that I still need to read yet I keep going back to my Kindle and reading e-books. I kind of feel bad for my physical books being left out, all unread.

    Thanks for the giveaway! 😀

    • I've hard of people taking off the dust jackets before! I've done that if it's a big book, but I don't do that every time. (I think I read more paperbacks than hard covers with dust jackets, though). YAY for being a mood reader!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

    • Hi Angela! I love this! I like to read at least a little bit every day but I have to admit that many days, I probably don't read this much and there are lots of days that I'm not even sure how many pages I actually read because I'm either listening to the audiobook or because it is a percentage from my Kindle! Way to go! Thanks so much for stopping by (:

    • Choosing what to read based on the weather is so cool! I love that. YAY for historical romance! So awesome. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing this!! (:

  15. I sometimes choose books based on the ratings in goodreads and I love books with pretty cover. I als tried reading multiple books at the same time but,,, ipit was not for me 🙂

    • I love books with pretty covers too! I've picked up books before a couple of times based on the cover alone. Sometimes they just draw my eye, ya know? I have some friends that are one-book-at-a-time readers. Sometimes I wish I could be so focused, but I get too fidgety with just one book going. (:
Thanks so much for entering the giveaway and sharing this!!

  16. I love your bookmark quirk! I usually just use whatever is handy as a bookmark, although I have a bunch of real ones. And I'm also an emotional reader. Reading Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor was hard for me. I had to keep texting two friends who'd read it to get encouragement that I could do it, I could keep reading to the end.

I don't know if it's a quirk, but I truly feel guilty when I decide I just don't love a book. I feel like somehow I've let the book down rather than the book letting me down.

    • Hi Shannon! My bookmark quirk is RIDICULOUS. If I don't have a "real" bookmark, I'll use my phone until I can get one. I have to text and message friends for support and encouragement ALL THE TIME!! I FEEL YOU. I do.

YES YES YES. I feel guilty when I don't love a book too! I know that not everyone does, but it really just bothers me to my core when I don't love a book! I even considered one book in particular book a couple of hours ago – I thought about rereading it when I've said before that I'd NEVER reread it. I just can't stand having it in my mind that I didn't enjoy it. I wish I wasn't that way, and it doesn't happen to me that often, but I CAN'T HELP IT! We're very similar in this!!

Thanks so much for sharing these things and for stopping by!! (:

  17. I'm very much a mood reader too!! Sometimes I'll have a schedule for ARCs and review copies, but it ALWAYS changes. And oh my gosh, I collect bookmarks too. I. Have. So. Many. I don't even know where all of them are. Another bookish habit of mine is listening to music while I read. I can't stand the silence, and usually I know when I'm lost in a book if I no longer know how many songs have played. 🙂

    • YES, I can't even schedule or make out a list because I am 100% certain that it won't stick. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CERTAIN. I love how you can drown out music when you read! That's awesome!!
      Thanks for stopping by!

  18. My reading quirk would maybe be that I smell my books? is that weird, I just kind of thought a lot of people did it. Also I bring my book everywhere even if I know I wont get to read it, it's my way of treating them like my babies.

    • I think a lot of people DO book-sniff? That made me chuckle a little bit! (: I take books everywhere too. Sometimes it gets ridiculous because I never carry only one. They ARE like babies! (:
      Thanks for sharing!

  19. One quirky thing I used to have was I loved looking at the book checkout cards in library books before they went digital. I always was curious when it was first borrowed and when it was last borrowed. I also have tons of fancy and special bookmarks, but I never use any of them. I usually end up with a store receipt or a post it note as a bookmark. Thank-you for this marvelous giveaway contest. 🙂

    • Oh yes, the checkout cards in the library! It was always so cool when we had to write out name on the card. I loved rereading as a young person, so often my name would be on the same card more than once (:
Thanks so much for entering the giveaway and reminding me of library cards in the backs of books. I kind of miss them!

  20. I am not very quirky except I cannot not finish a book I start…even if I hate it; I can't read more than 1 book at a time, but I recently discovered I can add in an audiobook at the same time! thanks for this generous giveaway!

    • This is so funny! I wonder if some books are less stressful to you than they are to me because I don't do this? Perhaps I should do this every now and then (:
      Thanks for stopping by!

  21. I've been reading lots more indie books to review on my blog this year, but I don't think I'll repeat that. I usually have three or four books on the go, at least one of which is 'read for pleasure'. I pick my review books for pleasure but too often it doesnt work out that way, I've found.
Thanks for more tips in your list!

    • I'm all for reading for pleasure, especially when we have review books going! You're so right about it not always going as expected when we try to pick the right review books – that happens to me to sometimes (: Thanks so much for stopping by!

    • I wish I could be more like this sometimes, and I've tried! But I can't. I have to have several going at a time! You're right, though, it does feel a little like cheating!
      Thanks for stopping by!

  22. Yes I do. Sometimes I just stare at people thinking about the book I'm holding without noticing! (Oh but the people do notice and I end up looking like a creep xD) I also look at the ending of mostly every book I read to know the ending. Lol thanks for the chance.

  23. I never plan my next read. Sometimes I pick up books that have been on my tbr pile for years and sometimes there is a new release that sounds so good that I need read it right away.
Also I often find myself disliking a book other people love.

    • I find myself more and more lately disagreeing with the majority! (I didn't love the Divergent series, ssshhh don't tell. I just finished it a few days ago.) I think never planning what I'm reading is what makes it more exciting, but I understand that lots of people are opposite. But I'm like you!
      Thanks for stopping by!

    • That is erratic! I love it. I have to read at least a little bit everyday, but the amounts that I read vary bigtime from day to day!
Thanks so much for stopping by and entering the giveaway!

  24. I wish I could read several books at one time. If I did, my brain would scramble and I would not know what I had read period!!haha I will continue reading one at a time!!!

    • Sometimes, I feel like I'm a little scrambled with more than one story going on but I always end up reading several, even when I TRY HARD to read just one!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

    • I prefer to read without distractions too! It doesn't always happen that way but I find that I get lost in the book so much easier and BETTER when I'm not distracted by anything at all. (:
Thanks so much for entering the giveaway and stopping by!
