Author Sherry Gammon |
I’m really excited to have Sherry Gammon stopping by the blog today to answer some questions about Unlovable. I read this book recently and absolutely loved it!
Unlovable is the first book in the Port Fare Series. Book Two, Unbelievable, is scheduled to be released in March 2012.
Sherry, thank you so much for stopping by today!
Thanks for inviting me, Asheley!
1. There are a couple of scenes in Unlovable that make my heart skip a beat or two…most of these scenes involve the Dreser brothers harming or killing people either in revenge or to send a message to the cops. Were any of the scenes like this inspired by actual real-life events?
NO! Thank heavens!! The Dreser brothers are…were just plain evil!
2. I’m admittedly not entirely familiar with crime jargon and the process of working undercover like Seth and Booker were doing to expose Dreser’s drug ring. Did you have to do a ton of research to write these parts or do you have experience in this particular career?
Research! And a ton of it. I didn’t know anything about guns, my hubby helped there, and the rest I found in books I read through for research/background.
3. Seth has an interesting love for much older movies and musicals. What inspired you to give him this charming character trait? And what is YOUR favorite older movie or musical?
I LOVE Hello Dolly and Singin’ in the Rain. With my characters, I try and give them each one of my personality traits so I know better what they are thinking. Seth likes old movies, poor Maggie has my hair, Cole got my clumsiness, and Booker got my overprotective nature.
4. Unlovable is a great mixture of breath-taking romance and suspenseful crime thriller. I’ll admit that my favorite parts to read were the scenes involving Maggie and Seth while their relationship was developing…What types of books do you typically enjoy reading more: suspenseful books or books with romance?
Romance, and I LOVE funny books best. Dystopia is next, but I HATE suspense!! I hate not knowing what is going to happen. I get too scared. Who knows why I wrote one. Too funny!!
If it is funny, I want to laugh out loud. If it is romantic, I want to swoon, and if it is Dystopia, I want to cry!
I am a terrible typer ;] I love to use !!!!!!!!!!!! I need to believe in myself more, and there are a lot of wonderful people out there who read/review books.
I try and write three hours a day. If I am in the middle of something and it is going well, I can type all day. Quirks? If I need to write a sad/romantic scene, I will listen to a sad/romantic song, then turn it off. I can’t write with music going on. I start singing and can’t think about the book.
Yes! I just read a book titled Geek Girl by Cindy Bennett. It is really good. I actually was part of the book tour. She is an amazing author. I love all her books.
Book Bloggers. They are our life line to the reader. Without them and their endless hours of sacrifice, all for free I might add, we would be nothing! So a very big THANK YOU from me to you!
It is Cole’s story. You learn more about him, his background and the basis for his clumsiness. The Dreser brothers’ sister, Lilah, blows into town, with plans to get revenge for her brother’s murders. Cole finds love, finally, but what will it cost him, That is the question!
You must be at least 13 years old to enter.Deadline for entry is Tuesday, December 13, 2011.This contest is open to Everyone.

Great interview! I want to read this even more now. I love that Sherry puts a little of herself in each of her characters.
There is more of Maggie and Seth in book two and there just may be a marriage…for someone though I'm saying just who!
And thanks again, Asheley!
Thanks for the shout-out, Sherry! I happen to be a fan of yours also. Unlovable is amazing. And I have to agree with Evie – your pic is so beautiful!!!!! (those are for you ;o))
Thanks for the chance. New author for me. Sounds like a great book.
This book sounds great, and the next one sounds awesome too. I love to hear things through a guys POV. It would be really cool to see it through Cole's eyes.
I plan to read "Unlovable" in the near future.
