Oh the sadness! I have loved being a part of the fun and teasing and remembering that went along with re-reading Twilight with everyone, but I suppose it has come to an end rather quickly it seems. I have enjoyed interacting with every last one of you great peeps, and I hope we can all interact more beyond this.

Today we’re all meeting back up at GReads! to link up our questions and answers and to party one last time in this little funtime that is our Mondays Bite! (sniffles, sniffles, blows my nose, repeat)

To the cool people that came up with this idea: y’all ROCK and ROLL for getting me to read this book again. I always wanted to but wouldn’t have done it on my own any time soon. I owe you all a small part of fun each week. Because of this event, I had some giggles while I wrote up my posts and re-lived my mad crushing on the sweetness that is one Charlie Swan.

Twilight's Chief Charlie Swan
Hello, Officer Swan
I can see the intense concentration
you use to solve your police matters.
Also, you are awesome.

1. In Chapter 21, James calls Bella telling her he has her mother and the only way he won’t kill her is if Bella comes alone. What would you do in that situation? Come alone or tell Alice and Jasper?

Okay, this is where I became an annoyed reader a teensy bit. Alice is a very smart, gifted girl…er, vampire. She can see glimpses of possibilities of the future and she is usually correct! ALSO, she draws the rooms perfectly without even looking at the paper (or at least we can see this in the movie-when I try it, I mark all on the table). Does anyone else wonder why on earth she had no idea about Bella’s plans? Or is it just me? And why didn’t Jasper pick up on Bella’s mischievous emotions?? Bella totally gave Jasper the slip. I’ve been very open-minded about this book, and I will continue to be so. But in this instance, I am annoyed that Alice and Jasper didn’t call Bella out and put her in her place. (I know, I know…I’m being too hard on Jasper and Alice.) And it’s Stephanie Meyer’s story and not my own…I shouldn’t really question it…but…

ALL OF THAT BEING SAID…If I were Bella, I’d totally have told Alice and Jasper. No way I’d have gone alone. Nope, no way. Bella knew how strong and fierce the vampires were, and also how super duper fast Edward and Carlisle and the others would catch up to them…she KNEW they’d be okay. Silly Bella.

Dude! You are SO about to get your butt kicked!

2. Was everyone else as shocked as I was when I first found out about the Alice/James situation? Do you think this adds to the story line or was it not needed? Why do you think they choose not to include these details in the movie?

I had forgotten about the Alice/James thing. I think it was just another detail in the story, another reason for the reader to despise James. It worked, I think. We all love Alice, and any person who comes against Alice is no friend of ours.

Putting it into the movie would have meant breaking up a pivotal point in the action sequence of the film. I think it was smart to leave it out. It wasn’t needed there. There were other parts of the movie that they put in, like when Edward had a hard time controlling himself sucking Bella’s blood clean and when Alice couldn’t help Carlisle because she couldn’t be around Bella’s blood. Adding another element (the Alice/James thing) would have just been another ‘thing’ and it wasn’t needed or necessary.

I think it worked okay the way they did it, even though it was a little different than the book. (I can’t believe I just admitted that. Please don’t judge me, friends!)

3. Edward had to do something extremely difficult in order to save Bella from becoming a vampire. Have you ever had a similar situation in your life where you had to push your willpower to its limits?

As a Labor & Delivery nurse, or as a nurse in general, I had/have to do it all the time. That career is filled with extremely difficult things, particularly in the L&D field. Not everyone lives and believes as I do, but I have a job to do regardless of my own personal agenda. So every situation, every patient almost, has a little bit of that pushing-of-the-willpower. I love it because it is challenging to me. I am not typically a judgmental person, so I am able to do it well, I think, at least most of the time.

How does this relate to Edward saving Bella’s life? Well, I’ve been in too many situations where I’m having to manipulate something to save a tiny life, or even the life of a mother…which is never fun but always challenging and stressful.

I cannot believe I just compared being a Labor & Delivery nurse to Edward sucking Bella’s blood. In the ‘real world’ I would be branded for this. Only here in this lovely group of Twilight fans am I safe in doing this. Ha!

4. Bella and Edward get into the “to change Bella or not to change Bella” argument in the hospital. If you were Bella, would you want to become a vampire? Why or why not?

Um, yep. If I were Bella, I’d totally want in on it because my boyfriend is a hot vampire and I’d want in on that life too. Who wants to keep aging with an immortal boyfriend? Being young and recklessly in love like that means being impatient, and I would totally be that way. I’d be nagging Edward all the time to make me a vampire, and if he wouldn’t, I’d be begging Carlisle.

When you love someone, you just want to be with them. To be with Edward, Bella needs to be like him. So Bella needs to be a vampire. The End. (This has been Life Lessons by Asheley Tart. Tune in next week. Thank you and Goodbye.)

5. Twilight ends with everyone going to the prom. Did you go to your prom? Was your experience similar to Bella’s? Feel free to include pictures!!

I DID go to the prom. I went, got the picture (for my grandparents who I lived with at the time) and then left and went to the beach. Prom wasn’t all that to me, so I can relate to Bella a little bit. I don’t even know where the pictures are now…sad, but true.

Ummm, Charlie! What are you doing in this prom picture?

I went to the prom with Mike the Hubby, and he DID wear an awesome silver tuxedo jacket. It was really cool. I’m really sorry you guys don’t get to see it because it was super shiny and awesome. Oh, those were the good old days.

Speaking of the good old days,
TODAY IS MY 13TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.
I’VE SPENT ALL WEEKEND CELEBRATING WITHOUT THE KIDS.
FUN TIMES, Y’ALL.
CONGRATULATIONS TO US.
LOVE YA BABE.

(Mike the Hubby will probably read this post like he usually does, so I’m loving him here in front of all of you.)

  1. oooo!! Happy 13th!!

My intense situation was actually about my second delivery and I will never forget the labor nurse I had, even as I was yelling and crying at her she was calling me honey, wiping my face and encouraging me. She was amazing and what an awesome job you do!!!!

    BTW- Husbands rock!!!

  2. Mike

I love you, Ash. Happy Anniversary. For the record, at our prom, you were way hotter than Bella, and you still are.

  3. I cannot believe I just compared being a Labor & Delivery nurse to Edward sucking Bella's blood. In the 'real world' I would be branded for this. Only here in this lovely group of Twilight fans am I safe in doing this. Ha! – LMAO!!!!

    Happy Anniversary!!!

  4. happy anniversary! and you can feel free to gush/relate all sorts of inappropriate stuff to twilight…we are a group who cares and understands, lol. I mean, we are all reading this again (some of us are multiple rereads in!) No judgement here, lol.
