I like you list, mostly because I have read NONE of these books. Gives me a little inspiration to check some of them out, since I trust your love for them (especially Where Things Come Back and Everybody Sees The Ants).
Where Things Come Back is spectacular and would be a stellar movie. Such brilliant writing and deserving of the awards it won. Everybody Sees The Ants would be a good movie because of the subject matter, bullying. It's a great book. The more I think on it since I've read it, the more I appreciate it and like it.
Graceling would be an awesome movie.
Agreed. Especially if Katsa was cast perfectly. I would go see it opening night, for sure.
I NEED to see The Night Circus as a movie! NEED! Made by the right people, it would be gorgeous and spectacular.
ME. TOO. If someone like Martin Scorsese did it, or maybe a more-serious Tim Burton film, with a PERFECT couple cast as Celia and Marco…GAH. Another one I'd see opening night and even buy my tickets early.
Absolutely one of my favorite books.
Apparently I have some serious reading to do! Of these, I've only read Graceling and Daughter of Smoke and Bone – both of which would be AMAZEBALLS as movies!
I can't believe I still haven't read The Night Circus…need to get on that ASAP, especially since you love it so much!
Girl! Get on The Night Circus!! It's literally one of my favorites. I know I harp on that but it's SO true.
Oooo! Night Circus! Yes!
I know! I know!
I just read Everybody Sees the Ants – and would love to see it as a movie. Ditto Graceling, The Night Circus – and especially Daughter of Smoke & Bone!
YES YES YES YES!!! Your comment makes me excited!
Great list, I loved Under the Never Sky, and the book trailer was pretty awesome so I can imagine it'd be good as a movie too! Thanks for stopping by my TTT. I so agree about the idea of The Parasol Protectorate being done by someone like Tim Burton!
Yes, Tim Burton has a great eye for things that are a little different, like Gail Carriger's world, and of course Helena Bonham Carter would be in it as well if he did it, which would fit perfectly in one of the supporting roles. Now I wish I would have added those books to my list. 😉
Totally agree with Shatter Me and Daughters of Smoke and Bone. Awesome list! 😀
Drop by my Top 10?
I'd love to see Adam and Juliette's story and I'd love to see everything about Daughter of Smoke & Bone, but once again it all comes down to good actors/actresses!
Graceling, YESSSSSS…the tricky thing with all these great books is the casting. If Karou wasn't absolutely perfect in every way I'd be shattered! And oh my gosh, Tim Burton directing the Parasol Protectorate series? PERFECT! Actually any book with steampunk elements would be awesome projects for Tim Burton! Ooh, what about Dearly Departed directed by Tim Burton? A zombie love story, how awesome would that be?? I should add that to my list:)
Dearly Departed, yes. I think you and I could probably go back and forth with this for days Heather! And we'd be totally right about all of our choices. 🙂
Shatter Me and Smoke And Bone get my votes!
And I still haven't finished The Night Circus, but from what I've read, it would be a gorgeous movie!
OH THE NIGHT CIRCUS. That's the one that I read and then right away listened to via audio. I need to buy both the book and the audio because I used the library for both. And then they need to make a movie so I can buy the movie too. To me, it was THAT GOOD. Done just right, it would make an excellent movie!
INCARNATE! YES! FOREVER! SAM!
HECK YEAH. You get it! I knew you would!
I had The Night Circus on mine as well. I totally agree with the Daughter of Smoke & Bone. Woot!
Absolutely. Both are awesome and would make great movies if they had a great crew!
THE NIGHT CIRCUS NEEDS TO HAVE BEEN MADE INTO A MOVIE LIKE YESTERDAY! Okay, seriously how did I leave this book off my list? The whole time I was reading it I kept thinking how perfect it would be on screen. And mostly I just want to see those cool magic tents outside of my imagination!
I KNOW. That book was nothing but absolute, pure magic and Celia & Marco were just a DREAM to me. It would be absolutely marvelous if done properly – meaning if I got to choose WHO did it and WHO was cast! Ha!
I wanted to cry while reading this ONLY because I have never read any of these titles! But if they are epic enough for you to want them to be made into movies, I must get reading like NOW!!!!
Get to reading, Katelyn! I wrote a bunch of names on an index card and had to narrow them down! This list IS epic! haha 🙂
Yes! Where Things Come Back! And anything A.S. King! Not the huge world building sagas, but solid stories that have a whole different appeal as a movie.
Oh gracious, I'd go see Where Things Come Back on opening day, first showing. That would be a stellar movie because the book is brilliant. LOVED IT SO HARD!
I haven't read Vera Dietz yet but I hear fantastic things about it, so IDK it if it movie-worthy, but I definitely think ANTS is, even if it wouldn't be the funnest movie in the movie theater.
Dear movie people,
Asheley wants all of these books to be made into high-quality, well-produced, perfectly cast motion pictures that are worthy of their written form. GET ON IT…please. Because when Asheley asks for something, we have to give it to her. WE MUST!!
In all seriousness, though, I haven't read all of these books but TOTALLY mean to. Especially Under the Never Sky and Incarnate. And Where Things Come Back. But Daughter of Smoke and Bone would be amazing. It's very cinematic, I think. Visually stunning, emotionally gripping, fantastical. YES PLEASE. And Graceling. Honestly. I would DIE to see that made into a movie. GAHH!! I'd DIE!
And what is it with dystopians that seem to spark everyone's movie imaginations? For some reason they always seem like the most movie-ready books or something. I think it's the action and the drama and the deteriorating worlds. Whatever it is, I'd see them ALL. 🙂
Tell em Amy! I want it done NOW.
Seriously, you need to read Where Things Come Back. Corey Whaley does the South RIGHT in that book and the story is pretty darn good too. Totally earned all those shiny awards and would translate SO WELL to a big screen. Which is why I put it first. The others have no discernable place in line. But you need to get on the WTCB train, gal.
Nice list! Love Where Things Come Back!
Here's my list.
Me too Casie! Such a well-deserving book for the awards and would be an awesome movie. I would see it on opening night!
I haven't read ANY of these books yet – though several are on my to-be-read list, and I own a few of them as well.
My list is http://engelsigh.blogspot.com/2012/05/top-ten-tuesday-top-10-books-youd-like.html
They're great books! I recommend them all. 🙂
I'm totally with you on Under the Never Sky and Shatter Me. I really want to see more dystopian movies hitting theaters. With all the special affects they have these days, they could make something really awesome :]
I'd probably agree with more books on your list, but those are the only ones I've read ;]
I imagine we'll probably see a trend of YA dystopians in theaters now, especially after The Hunger Games and the popularity it is experiencing. But you're right, special effects would make these movie adaptations awesome.
