One ring plus one wild night equals one crazy love

Sherry Robicheaux loves men. She loves love. And she loves an adventure. So when she meets a mysterious man while working backstage at a country music concert in Vegas, she’s all about what’s happened in Vegas staying there.

Country music superstar Tyler Blue just wants a weekend of anonymity…though there’s something about the spunky waitress with the streaks of purple hair that tempts him like no other. Until the next morning, when they both wake up with fuzzy memories…and rings on their fingers.

Convincing Sherry to maintain the ruse for his public image isn’t the hardest part—it’s reminding himself that their time spent playing husband and wife in her small town of Magnolia Springs can’t last. Tyler’s first love will always be music—and the road is no place for a sweet downhome girl.

Accidentally Married on Purpose
 by Rachel Harris

My Thoughts:  This is my third adult contemporary romance by Rachel Harris and I’m SOLD on her stories. They are just FUN FUN FUN to read. I have loved every single second of not only reading, but anticipating, each of the books in this series. I know that this author writes across categories and genres and I think that is awesome – but I can’t wait for more romances like this.

Accidentally Married on Purpose by Rachel Harris gives sibling Sherry Robicheaux a chance to tell her story, and it is maybe-possibly-probably the best one of all. (I always bad when I assign a favorite, so I’m doing that cautiously because I’ve LOVED this series so hard and every book has stolen my heart.) Sherry has been burned by love, by an old relationship that broke her heart. She’s decided that she is ready to settle down with Mr. Boring and live life the safe way. She knows that Happy-Ever-Afters do not exist, that fairytales are only found in the books that she loves to read.

When Louisiana-based Sherry is assigned the task of a few days in Las Vegas to handle a catering event to represent the family restaurant business, she decides to make it her final hoorah before she settles down to her boring life filled with boring, safe love. She isn’t expecting to meet Tyler Blue, lead singer of the hit country band Blue.

Tyler is backstage and hungry when he smells something amazing – FINALLY someone has cooked something other than boring chicken! Finally someone has brought something that feels like home to him – he smells Cajun food and he can’t wait to dig in. With a plate spilling over, Sherry walks in and THINKS HE IS A ROADIE. Tyler immediately braces himself for the normal fangirling he experiences, but is shocked when Sherry starts flirting with him and treating him like he is part of the backstage staff for the band. He smirks as they talk – she tells him she loves dance music but doesn’t like country music, hilarious – and he realizes that she REALLY DOES NOT have any clue that he is famous. He knows it is a little mean of him, but he loves the anonymity he feels, the way he can be real for a few minutes, so he just calls himself by his first name and asks her to hang around after the show.

OH YES! SHERRY SQUEALS. She does a dance. Here is her chance at a last hoorah! She thinks her new pal Tyler has disappeared to work with the equipment or something – she has no idea he has gone off to sing, and honestly she has no desire to sneak a glance at the stage because she just doesn’t like country music. So Sherry never finds out who he really is! After the show, Tyler keeps up the act, and they have a fantastic weekend together.

On the morning she is scheduled to leave, they both wake up HILARIOUSLY startled to find that they’ve gotten married. Neither remembers it. Honestly, both are by now secretly smitten with one another. Interestingly, Tyler’s agent thinks it is a fantastic idea to keep up the marriage for a little while – a great career move for a country star! Sherry is only a little bit weirded out when he asks her to “lay low” when she gets home…until she finds a photographer in her bushes that tips her off to what has happened and who Tyler really is.

OH SNAP!

So now what? How will she keep from being humiliated when her super close-knit family finds out the truth? WILL they find out the truth? Or will Sherry agree to the little business proposition that Tyler’s agent and business team propose?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN, you guys??? Oh, it is so good. I’ve said that with every single book in this series, but it is the truth. They are all SO. VERY. GOOD.

Sigh sigh sigh.

Sigh.

Here is a book that I loved so much that I smiled the entire time I read it.
Here is a book that I loved so much that I want everyone to give it a shot because it is so much fun.
Here is a book that I loved so much that I wanted to start it again immediately.
It was one of THOSE BOOKS. Actually, the entire series is that way. I want to read the entire series over again now that I’ve finished with this book.

Accidentally Married on Purpose has these things that I love in it: a strong sense of family, a great setting, and great characterization. Specific to this series, this book also has Cajun food and a fun romantic story. Sherry is one of the Robicheaux siblings, but unlike Cane and Colby she has no romantic counterpart. She isn’t newly married or engaged, and she feels like a fifth wheel. She does have her dog, Elvis, and she affectionately calls him the man in her life. She is loved around Magnolia Springs, Louisiana for the care she shows to everyone and the things that are important to them. She pays attention to the local charities and plans events to raise money to benefit them. She has dreams of an event planning business. She just has really bad luck with love and romance and heartbreak. She loves reading about romance and fairytale romances, but she has determined that they don’t exist.

Tyler Blue is one of the biggest stars out there, so he certainly feels the strain of not having any privacy. There is pressure on him to stop being single, and the latest gossip sites have been speculating on which celebrity would be best for him for a relationship or even marriage. Tyler hates this – he hates this pressure. He is well-known for singing songs about commitment, but it doesn’t mean that he knows all that much about it. He loves his life, he loves living his dream – it wouldn’t be possible without the love and support of his parents. His father did not get to live his music dreams, and Tyler is always aware that he is doing it for the both of them.

When Sherry meets Tyler and finally figures out who he really is, she is shocked and surprised that he isn’t the kind of guy she had stereotyped and judged him to be initially. He is completely respectful and kind and so easy to fall in love with…which is a problem given that they have a “business proposition” of a marriage instead of a real one!

I absolutely love the story lines that involve a famous person and a person that has no clue about the fame of the person they’ve fallen for – and this one is a lot of fun given that the entire town of Magnolia Springs knows about the biggest country band around…except for Sherry. I loved that she fell hard for him as a man and as a musician at the same time, and that the people of the town were so respectful of them as a couple while also respecting his fame. I loved that they were a little bit on the awkward side, making rules about what they would do and wouldn’t do with their “business proposition” but that those rules became very crumbly and blurry as real feelings began to take control. That is SO VERY how life is, ya know? Not just in romance, but in all areas. I loved the way that their relationship was built outside of their arrangement. Kind of a love conquers all deal, proving to Sherry that happy endings do exist. Fantastic ending to this book and a great addition to this series.

I am super happy for this couple and this family, and I feel like I know them. I want to visit this town and the family restaurant. And I want to buy Tyler’s album and listen to it. I got very invested in these characters over the past three books, and I just love that so much. I recommend Accidentally Married on Purpose to fans of great romance stories with happy endings, strong sibling and family relationships, and great settings.

YOU GUYS!!
I have an excerpt from the book!

This is the part when Sherry finds out who Tyler is!
Such a fun part of the story!

She tugged open the door and barely got a foot past the threshold when a young woman appeared out of nowhere. “Are you Sherry?”

“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!” Sherry clutched her chest, panting as she glanced around the front yard. “Were you, like, hiding in the bushes?”

“Are you Sherry?” the woman asked again, her blond head bobbing as she consulted her phone. She nodded. “Yep, it’s her.”

Before Sherry could respond, or ask whom she was speaking to, an older man materialized with a literal flash.

Blinking in surprise, she stared in confusion at the camera in his hand. Angelle clasped Sherry’s shoulder and whispered, “Are you in some sort of trouble?”

“Uh, not that I’m aware of,” she whispered back.

Angelle’s eyes narrowed. “Excuse me, what exactly is this about?” Hand on jutted hip, her southern manners and newfound feisty personality made for an interesting combination.

The blonde held up her palm. “We’re from Country Insider and just want the exclusive scoop about her recent trip.” Behind her, the cameraman flashed some type of official-looking badge.

“Exclusive scoop?” Sherry asked with a laugh. “Do your readers really want to know the eating habits of roadies and crew members? Because I hate to tell you, sweetie, I never met Blue. If you’re looking for dirt, you’re barking up the wrong tree.” And flew a heck of a long way for nothing.

Instead of looking disappointed, the woman rolled her eyes. “Sure you didn’t. It was another purple-haired waitress from Louisiana who married him.”

Wait...

“Married?” Sherry and Angelle asked at the same time. They looked at each other, and Sherry lifted her shoulders to say, I don’t know what she’s talking about. It wasn’t a total lie, either. But Angie’s gaze grew suspicious.

The weight of the ring on Sherry’s finger grew heavy and she took a step back. This was seriously the oddest prank ever invented. With three pairs of eyes watching her with varying degrees of interest, she said, “Honey, for real, I don’t know who your source is, but you got some facts confused.”

Though not nearly as much as Sherry wished.

“So this isn’t you and Tyler Blue outside the Love Me Tender Wedding Chapel two days ago?” She held up her cell phone displaying, in embarrassing full color, a picture of her and Tyler. Sherry was wearing that horrid veil, and he was in a ridiculous top hat.

Crap on a freaking, stupid, flaming stick!

Angelle’s jaw dropped in Sherry’s peripheral. The time for denial was over. Sighing, she admitted, “Okay, that is me, but that’s not…” Her head snapped back and she snatched the woman’s phone. “Hold on, what did you say his name was?”

“Tyler Blue,” she replied with a huge smile, glancing back at her cameraman. She gave him some sort of signal and he stepped forward—just as the ground under Sherry’s feet started to shift. “Lead singer of Blue, God’s gift to country music. And your new husband. Am I right?”

Rachel Harris grew up in New Orleans, where she watched soap operas with her grandmother and stayed up late sneak reading her mama’s favorite romance novels. Now a Cajun cowgirl living in Houston, she still stays up way too late reading her favorite romances, only now, she can do so openly. She firmly believes life’s problems can be solved with a hot, powdered-sugar-coated beignet or a thick slice of king cake, and that screaming at strangers for cheap, plastic beads is acceptable behavior in certain situations.

When not typing furiously or flipping pages in an enthralling romance, she homeschools her two beautiful girls and watches reality television with her amazing husband. Taste The Heat is her adult romance debut. She’s the author of MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEENTH CENTURY and A TALE OF TWO CENTURIES. She loves hearing from readers! Find her at www.RachelHarrisWrites.com.

  1. I just bought this and #2 for $.99 each. I can't wait to read them! I remember your review for the first book a while ago – the yummy food and great romance. This one sounds like a whole lot of fun! I'm glad that you loved it so much, and that this series seems to keep getting better. Should I go back and start from the beginning or can I just read this one and then skip back?

  2. I have read the first two books, but haven't yet gotten around to buying and reading book 3. I am glad to hear you enjoyed it! I thought the first 2 books in this series where a lot of fun.
