Ten Books on my
Spring To-Read List!

I have Contemporary Month coming up in May
along with Evie and Bonnie, so my spring TBR is heavy with contemps!
So technically these aren’t necessarily at the top. They’re just on the list.
Along with a ton of others.

These are totally just random picks.  ðŸ™‚

1. The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay

I know a ton of other people have read this already and loved it.
I have it situated perfectly for my schedule and cannot wait to get to it!

**********************************************************

2. Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith

The pre-publication buzz for this one is crazy already
but I want it highlighted in my contemporary month if possible.
We’ll see how that goes!

**********************************************************

by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski

Oh I’m so excited about reading this one.
There’s a certain group of people that really love their road trip stories!
I can’t wait to see how this one pans out.

4. Waiting For You by Shey Stahl

This one just LOOKS GREAT.
Plus look sat how pretty that cover is!
Also I’m including some Indie New Adult/YA in my contemp month this year.

**********************************************************

5. Where She Went by Gayle Forman

I just started this one yesterday and I’m liking it so far!
(Audiobook + Print for the win!)
I’ve read If I Stay twice and I really needed to check this one out.

**********************************************************

6. Falling For You by Lisa Schroeder

I love Lisa Schroeder and this book looks great.
PLUS EVEN BETTER – another blogger friend April C shared her
copy of this book with me so I’m STOKED to read it.
(April blogs at Good Books and Good Wine)

**********************************************************

7. Criminal by Terra Elan McVoy

I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Terra Elan McVoy’s
Being Friends With Boys. So much so that when I saw this
I just knew that I wanted to give it a try. PLUS PLUS
Terra Elan McVoy is just a super cool person so

of course I want to read her books.
Can’t wait to get on this one.

**********************************************************

8. Dare You To by Katie McGarry

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I LOVED PUSHING THE LIMITS SO
OF COURSE I WANT TO READ THIS ONE.
That is all.

9. Thou Shalt Not Road Trip by Antony John

Well, I mean, this book is by Antony John.
He wrote Elemental! So that is enough for me.
But most everyone else knows him from his contemporary works FIRST.
I just did it BACKWARD! Can’t wait to dive into this one. SERIOUSLY.
I have it sitting by my bed. WAITING ON ME.

10. Callum & Harper by Fisher Amelie

I read this book by Fisher Amelie recently called VAIN
and was BLOWN AWAY. It’s one of my favorites in a very long time.
I want to read MORE of her work and as soon as possible, please!
Plus HOW COOL IS THAT COVER?

**************************************************

Some of y’all know how Contemporary Month works –
a month of contemporary. It’s simple.

So…also on my TBR are (possibly):

The Summer Series by Jenny Han
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Such A Rush by Jennifer Echols
some stuff by Sarah Dessen
Nobody But Us by Kristin Halbrook

seriously a ton more…

WHAT CONTEMP RECS
do you have?

    • I've heard mixed reviews about the Summer Series but I've been meaning to get to it. And I'm so glad to hear great about Callum and Harper! I'm SUPER excited about that one! Love that cover. I just read VAIN and absolutely LOVED it a ton.

    • I just finished Where She Went on Wednesday, actually and WOW. It IS amazing. I loved it so much more than If I Stay. And I'm pretty excited about The Sky Is Everywhere too – I'm thinking of reading that one along with Audiobook. 🙂

  1. ROAD TRIPS! I love a good contemporary novel, so your list is PERFECT (and awful at the same time, because really? Now there are so many new books on MY TBR/to buy shelf!)

  2. Dare You To and How My Summer are both on my Spring TBR list, too. I cannot wait to read them.

The Sea of Tranquility is interesting. It's very intense. It isn't a favorite, but I liked it.

    • I can't wait for Dare You To – I'm having a fit about it. Everyone seems to be excited about How My Summer and it looks really fun!

I've heard that about The Sea of Tranquility – I'm eager to get into it to see what it is all about.

  3. OH my gosh, girl, I'm sooo excited for you to read The Sea Of Tranquility! Seriously. So much love for that book!
    AND Where She Went!! Eep!!
Great picks for this week!! Sounds like you'll have a great spring 🙂

  4. So excited for these! I finally read (and ADORED) Pushing the Limits last week so OMG I can't wait for Dare You To. You have no idea how excited I am for Contemp Month. 😉 Recs? Oh my goodness – here goes: Please Ignore Vera Dietz, Double Clutch, Just One Day, The Mockingbirds, Amy & Roger's Epic Detour, Something Like Normal, My Life Next Door, Pregnant Pause, Some Girls Are, 52 Reasons to Hate My Father, Meant to Be, I Hunt Killers, Stolen: A Letter to My Captor. I'm sure you've read a lot of those, but they're some of my faves. Great list, Asheley!

    • I KNOW DARE YOU TO I CAN'T WAIT SEE NO PUNCTUATION TO SHOW MY EXCITEMENT!!!

I'm have read a few of these but I'm coming back to this list and see if I can add some of these because you are a contemporary genius.

  5. I want to read all of these (that I haven't already read!)! Callum and Harper, The Sea of Tranquility and Where She Went are fantastic. Love Antony John! Have you read THE FIVE FLAVORS OF DUMB yet? You would really like that one! Great music themes. The only one here that I'm not touching with a ten foot pole is The Summer Series! No way could I handle that girl or that triangle. But I'm eager to hear your thoughts.

    • Haha, I've heard mixed things about The Summer Series, but I got it specifically for this event last year and didn't work it in and then I got it signed at yallfest so I'm definitely gonna try it out. Also, I plan on Five Flavors, yes! I just didn't put it on here. I love the cover of that one.

  6. Oh I wanna read Wild Awake! And oh my gosh girl, READ Where She Went!! It is so effin' good!! I just started Sea of Tranquility and it is really good so far, I don't wanna go to work, I just wanna read…oops :/

  7. I am totally with you on some of your Contemp picks: The Sky is Everywhere, something by Jennifer Echols (never read her before), and some more Sarah Dessen! Great picks!

As far as a contemp rec…how about Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler? It's super cute and a perfect read for winter!

    • I've never read anything by Sarah Ockler but she has been recently recommended to me so I'm going to try and get to her during my contemporary month! I've heard Bittersweet is a good choice and I'd also like to read Twenty Boy Summer. 🙂

  8. I'm loving that your list is mostly contemporary! There are definitely a few titles on here that I need to check out, especially If I Stay + Where She Went (which I have yet to read).

I'm totally in support of you reading the Summer series. I'm planning to finish it out this spring myself!

    • Oh my goodness, I finished Where She Went yesterday and I just loved it SO MUCH. So very much. I've been meaning to read The Summer Series since last year's contemporary month when Ginger mentioned how much she loved it, but I just didn't get to it last year. THIS YEAR, though!!

  9. My most recent find that I must recommend is the book Shanghai Love, by author Layne Wong (http://laynewong.com/). It is an unlikely love story between a Chinese herbalist and a Jewish refugee looking for safety from Nazi Germany. The herbalist, Peilin, was betrothed to a man who was killed before their wedding but tradition and honor forced the marriage along anyways. She is sent to Shanghai to manage his family’s herbal shop. Shanghai is also Henri’s destination as he has graduated from medical school as Hitler is rising to power. He flees to Shanghai where he’s befriended by Ping, Peilin’s brother. Through her kindness, Henri becomes fascinated with Chinese herbs as well as the exotic culture surrounding him. It is such a gripping story and I absolutely adore a romance novel that allows a relationship to slowly blossom and one that takes time before the two can ultimately be together I hope you will give it a read!
